The Worm Project
A mission of Mosaic Mennonite Conference
Monthly Meetings of Abington Quarter have been supportive of the Franconia Mennonite Conference and Eastern District Conference combined effort to raise money to treat parasitic worms in children.
The Worm Project is dedicated to eradicating parasitic worms that live in hundreds of millions of children and are a major cause of malnutrition in many of the poorer countries of the world.
The Worm Project raises money to purchase de-worming medicine in large quantities at discounted prices. They work closely with partner organizations to distribute the medicine. This de-worming medicine is the most cost-effective way to impact the health of children.
The Worm Project purchased and distributed enough deworming medicine to treat 10 million children in 2018. Each deworming tablet costs roughly 2 cents and treats one child for parasitic worms. One tablet kills virtually all the parasitic worms living in children. Recommended treatment for children and adults is one tablet every six months to one year. Medicine is extremely effective and safe.
